FAQ's
Below are a number of questions, in no particular order that we often get asked.
Can I video or photograph my child?
To respect the privacy of other customers and our children, Shark Swim School does not allow the use of any photographic equipment/video cameras without prior permission.
What if my child has never been in the water before?
Shark Swim School teachers are very experienced with dealing with nervous children and they will know how to deal with most situations. However, it is always best to take your child to the pool before hand to familiarise him/her with the layout and facilities.
How do I know what level my child is?
Give as much information as possible when enquiring about lessons to enable us to put your child in the correct class. Shark Swim School teachers will assess them on the first lesson of term and they may be moved accordingly.
How does my child progress through the system?
Each child is continually assessed during the term and re-assessed towards the end of term and a class is recommended for the following term.
What age can my child start lessons?
We take children from 4 years.
Can my child start swimming lessons at any time?
Yes they can.
Can I change the day/time of my child’s swimming class?
Yes you may but make sure you let Shark Swim School beforehand so that files can be updated.
How many children in a class?
This may vary but class sizes are kept as small as possible.
Does my child need goggles?
No, but they are advisable.
Does my child have to wear a swimming hat?
We strongly recommend that all children (boys and girls) from age 3 upwards wear a swimming hat.
Where do I buy swimwear?
Shark Swim School has for sale at very competitive prices, swim bags, goggles and hats.
How long are the lessons?
30 minutes. We have found if it is longer the children become less attentive.
Can my child have a trial lesson?
No - all lessons are courses payable in advance.
Do I pay for my child to swim before or after his/her lesson?
Each half term payments must be made within the first two weeks of the half term.
My child has a medical condition - who should I tell?
Please inform Shark Swim School or the teacher in advance of any condition or injury that might make a difference to your child participating in the class.
Can my child swim with a verucca?
Yes, verucca socks are available in most Chemist shops.
When can my child swim having had Chicken Pox?
Once the scabs have come off.
